ST Patty’s

Rick has been gone all week for a medical conference in Colorado. Don’t worry he had a little extra time on his hands so he decided to check out the BYU game while he was there. Lucky guy huh!

Anyway while he was watching some B-ball I’ve been at home with the kiddies. First time I have been with the kids by myself for an extended period of time. All I can say is that I’m really grateful for Rick’s parents and all they do for us. I’m also extremely appreciative to our friends for keeping me occupied this week.

We had a group play date at the park to Celebrate St. Patrick’s day. I had a great time. Thanks to my mom, Katie had a cute outfit to wear and Brady was my own personal leprechaun.

Leprechauns left some chocolate money laying around. Katie can never turn down free money.

We ate Shamrock cake pops, spinach dip, and even a green cheese ball.

 

Most of us are going our separate ways this summer so it is sad to think that we won’t get to spend much time with everyone. I love having so many different personalities in one big group. I’m going to miss everyone. On top of that I feel bad for Katie. She is going to have to leave her first real friends. Honestly how sad! (I stole these pictures from my Friend Jen’s blog)

 

 

It was such a beautiful day at the park. None of us really wanted to leave. We ended up spending over 3 hours. The only down side to a day like that this is if you forget the sunscreen. Yep I get the horrible mom award of the bunch! Brady came home burnt to a crisp on his little face.

KATIE-isms

Ok she makes me laugh everyday!

 

Today she was engrossed in watching a basketball game to the point that she had to improvise when it came to the potty. She is potty trained but I guess the bathroom was too far away so…..She lifted the lid on a plastic wipe case that was out in front of the TV and proceeded to use it as her makeshift potty while she continued to watch the game. What a problem solver. Don’t worry the wipe case was thrown away and we discussed the fact that it is only ok to go potty in the toilet.

Katie jumps in the shower with me. Not that I really want her to do so, but more the fact that if she hears water running anywhere in the house she thinks she should be able to play in it. So the other day while taking a shower the following conversation takes place after Katie taps me on the butt.

Me: why did you do that?

Katie: Mommy is that your butt?

Me: Yes it is my butt.

Katie: Mommy your butt is big.

Me: Yep honey it is big.

Katie: My butt is little.

Me: Yes Katie you have a cute little butt.

Katie: Mommy you have a cute big butt.

Me: Thanks.

 

I never know what might come out of her mouth.

The other day I was helping her use the toilet at a friends house. She was having some difficulty with a BM when she turned to me, grunted, and said, “Mommy this is a beautiful bathroom.”  Silly KID!

 

She has started asking for her friends to come play which is lots of fun. Brinley came to play so, I took the packing paper from a package we received and let the girls go crazy with the paints.  They were occupied so me and Brinley’s mom were chatting. Before too long both girls were topless for getting paint on their shirts.  No wonder they are friends.

I love my daughter and even though she can frustrate me at times I would never trade her. I mean who could pass up someone as cool as my Katie Girl!

Brady is 5 Months

At the Dr a few weeks ago he weighed in at 13 1/2 lbs and 24.25 in. This puts him in the 25th percentile for weight and 70th percentile for height.

He is rolling over but hasn’t figured out that he can move across the room yet thank goodness. When he lays on his stomach he wiggles his arms and legs and gets frustrated. All he needs to do is pick up his tummy and he would be crawling.

He just cut two front teeth on the bottom.

Pretty much he is a happy baby. He hardly ever fusses and giggles like crazy.

He loves his rice cereal and has tried bananas but was a little unsure of them. Squash is his favorite and if you feed it to him he will dive after the spoon!

He is turning into a momma’s boy. If I leave the room for too long and then walk past him he begins crying and the second I pick him up he is fine. He’ll do this with other people if he thinks he has been away from me too long.

I just love his smile and the way he giggles at me. I’m so grateful to have my little boy!

Reading

My children love listening to books. Katie asks everyone to read to her. She has my mom do it while chatting online and we can’t go to grandpa’s house without having a few books read.

The other night Rick finished at school early and came home. He took the kids and I used the time to finish some much needed chores. I realized that it was really quiet and so I went searching for my family. This is what I came across.

Brady was happily playing in his jumper and Rick was reading a book with Katie on the floor. I was so elated to see my family so happy. I hope that more days are just like this in the future.

Rick wanted to relax a little more so he had Brady sit and play a video game with him. It is always nice to relax.

It is starting to get warmer here in TN. We should be able to play outside a lot more now. We have some spring cleaning to do as well. I’ll have to get rid of stuff we don’t want to take with us when we move this summer.

Rick and  I celebrated our 6th anniversary just like we always do. Rick went to some military thing and we told each other that we love one another over the phone. It works for us!
