Honestly Brady's favorite part of the day was watching the construction they were doing

The Zoo
We went to the zoo with my aunts and their kids. It had been a while since we have been to the zoo. Brady loved the monkeys. Katie loved the large crocodile. I loved watching the polar bear. We of course had to add to our injury count. While I was standing in line to get food. My mom was trying to help Brady with his gogurt when he fell and smacked the back of his head on the cement. My poor mom was so upset she couldn't eat. Brady had a good bump but was fine in the end. It was hot but we had a good time. Trevor slept most of the trip but woke up to eat at the reptile house. It was fun to watch Katie play with her cousin Hailey. She asks almost everyday when she might be able to go play with her cousin with the curly hair. She said that she is her favorite cousin. It is really cute!
Balloons
A favorite summer tradition for me is going to see the hot air balloons. During the Provo freedom festival they launch hot air balloons early in the morning. You can walk around the balloons as they fill them up. Then once all of the balloons are launched they return to the field to play games. They throw bean bags at an X from the air and joust large balloon suspended in the air. The games don't always work. Sometimes the air currents push the balloons away from the field and you don't get much of a show. That was not the case this year. The balloons were able to maneuver over the field multiple times. Even though Brady didn't feel well it was a beautiful morning in Utah. The smoke had cleared for the morning and it was worth getting up.

FHE
We went to the lake for Family Home Evening. Poor Katie was sick of course (see earlier post) but still had a great time. We were able to go on my Uncle Chris' pontoon boat with 2 of his sons. It was so nice to go out and enjoy the water with the kids after a day of not feeling well. It was Trevor and Brady's first boat rides. Brady even got to drive the boat. It was so wonderful I just wish Rick could have been with us. He is in Oklahoma for 2 months doing rotations. Nothing like a good time to remind me how much I miss him.
Utah's not good for us
Saturday Katie was playing on my parent's stairs and sliced her hand on some exposed carpet nails. My sister had a few steri strips so we bandaged her up on our way to a car show.
Sunday we were walking out of the house headed to church. Katie slipped on my parent's front steps. They are cement and scraped a large patch on her back. We once again bandaged her up and made it to church on time.
Monday at 4 am I woke up sick. My niece Mikayla had come to visit on Saturday and wasn't feeling well. I never touched her but by sitting across the room I ended up getting really sick. I was nauseous for about 12 hours. I started to feel better just in time for Katie to throw up in the car on the way to the lake for FHE. That was the only time she threw up. It was funny because she said she had to burp and felt bad because she threw up. Poor thing. Once we got back from the lake my mom put Katie and Brady to bed for me. Katie was in her bed and she just left Brady in Amy's bed in the same room. Amy could move him when she went to bed. Unfortunately Brady threw up in my sister's bed. Poor Amy had to sleep on the couch for the night.
I woke the kids up early the next morning to go to the hot air balloons. Katie and I were fine but Brady threw up on the way to Provo. Crazy mom trying to take sick kids to something fun. Surprising we were home around 9 that morning and Brady was starving. He was fine after he had some breakfast. He acted like it never happened.
Brady woke up screaming one night with leg aches. Taking a bottle away from a kid results in less calcium intake. Fortunately we started him on an additional calcium supplement and he has been fine. since.
Today Brady seems to have caught a cold. Which is so fun trying to explain to him that I can't rock him on my lap while I nurse Trevor. Some days being a mom is hard.
All in all we have survived but I could really be fine if the rest of the trip was boring.
Utah or bust..
So the trip to Utah went really well with all three kids. Katie even made friends with a few kids at the airport in KY. Funny thing is they were headed to Utah too. Trevor was a champ on his first flight and my mom is an angel. She took care of Brady during the flights. He was a pill. The fun of the trip came of course with the layover. There were storms over Denver that prevented us from landing on time in fact we got in 20 minutes late. This was a problem because we only had a 45 min layover to begin with. As we got off the plane I took my over stuffed backpack and my mom's bag with the electronics. I then picked Brady up and grabbed Katie's hand. We ran (i'm not kidding ran!) 2.5 concourses. I had no clue how close my mom was behind me with Trevor, I was just determined not to get stuck in an airport again. As we reached the gate the agent announced the final boarding call. I was breathing so hard I couldn't even talk. The whole thing just reminded me that I had a baby 6 weeks earlier and I was really out of shape! I took a deep breath and looked behind me for my mom. Luckily she was close enough I could hand him our tickets and make our way down the jet way. Once we were seated we asked the flight attendant if my mom could switch seats. She was suppose to be at the back of the plane while I was seated with Katie in the middle of the plane. The attendant told us not to worry about it. We were informed that the plane was actually over booked but they were going to leave with the plane half empty in order to leave on time. To top it off it was the last flight into Provo that day. So anyone that missed it would have to try to get into SLC on standby or wait until the next day. At that point I was really glad we ran and didn't even stop for a potty break. Somewhere in the hustle my mom and I both bruised our feet and Katie ended up with a scratch on her leg. I have no clue where mine came from. I was just really glad to land and be done. Oh and even with the fun of running to the plane I would definitively recommend flying into Provo over SLC.
