Sun Fun

Spring is something I never had the pleasure of knowing until we moved to TN. The blossoms on the trees are brilliant and the weather is uncanny. We have had 70 degree weather all month. I’m use to ice and snow this time of year. It certainly brightens my spirit.

To enjoy the sunny weather Rick signed up to participate in the DCOM intramural soccer games. It is fun to watch him play. This is the weakest sport so far (football, basketball, soccer, volleyball) but the team seems to hold there own and Rick usually come away with making a goal or two.  The nice thing is that it falls on Wednesday  afternoons so Rick’s dad can come watch him play as well. I think Katie really enjoys having grandpa around.

We participated in the day of service with our ward. We served breakfast to raise money for the local food banks and the firefighters. As a bonus they let the kids explore the fire truck. Katie wasn’t that interested until they turned on the siren.

On another note, Katie took off her diaper today and I told her to put it back on. She was obedient and placed both legs in one hole and wore it as such…. 

I was laughing my head off but finally helped my poor child put it back on properly.

Good Friends

I have to admit living in TN is hard for me some days but we have been blessed with Rick’s parents being so close and some really good friends. Good friends that at a moments notice will bring their children over to have lunch with me because I don’t want to eat alone and my child needs someone to play with.   You know those wonderful kind of friends that are willing to take time out of their busy days to lug my new toy up 2 flights of stairs into my front room.  What great friends and what a fun new toy! Rick’s dad found it on Craigslist and did all of the work getting me this wonderful piano. Thank you so much Kevin! All I need now is to have it tuned and find someone to give me lessons.  YIPEE!!

Easter Fun

What a weekend. Since Easter was the same weekend as conference and LMU had Good Friday off, I  decided to host an egg hunt in our back yard for the DCOM families that wouldn’t conflict with class or conference. It was so much fun! We had over 250 eggs set out and the kids went running like crazy trying to grab them all. It was a beautifully sunny day of 90 degrees with a slight breeze that made it comfortable but melted all of the chocolate in the eggs.

We had some great food and I even made a very springy dirt pie.Saturday I helped Rick’s parents with their taxes and missed the morning session of Conference. I was so excited to go over to the Passey’s for the second session. It was such a great message on the importance of family and teaching children to be better. I am so grateful that I was able to watch.  I even saw my dear friend from high school singing in the choir.

While at our friend’s we helped make potstickers and rolled some sushi which everyone ate afterwards. Brent also prepared yakisoba and curry for our tummies delights. Sorry there are no pictures I was too busy stuffing my face.

Katie took her Easter toy with her to the party and all of the kids had to have a turn. Rick and his dad picked it up for her earlier that day. Katie sure has both of them wrapped around her little finger.

Sunday brought a wonderful brunch with Rick’s parents and more Tax prep but at least this time I was able to listen to conference. We headed home for a nap in between sessions where Katie stayed up and played with Rick while I slept. I woke up with a headache and feeling sick and spent the rest of the night in the bathroom. Thankfully it was Sunday and Rick and his parents were able to take care of Katie for me. I am very blessed!

March Mayhem!

Can’t believe I missed Blogging in March completely. It was a great month! My family aka my mom, my sister, and my grandma (my mom’s mom) all flew out to see me…well actually Katie . It was great. I didn’t have to do dishes all week and it was so nice to have them here. We went to the Tri-State peak and the park while they were in town. It was so much fun! '

Katie’s Great grandma brought her a present when she came. A new apron so she can help mommy cook. The fun thing is that she now matches her Aunt Amy. How cute!

Just after the family headed back to Utah the weather was so nice Katie and Rick went for their first motorcycle ride of the season. Go daddy Daughter Time!

March also included Rick’s Birthday. He can never remember how old he is so I don’t expect anyone else too either. He got just what he wanted too. An Itouch. Thanks to everyone that went in on the gift. He was one lucky guy. He didn’t just have one birthday cake. Nope I made lots of cupcakes. So March was a good month for the Jones family. Sorry I didn’t share sooner!
