For Christmas my dad bought plane tickets for me and the kids to come visit him in Utah. One spectacular gift if you ask me. The only downside was I had to travel to UT by myself with the kids.
I’ll be honest being pregnant and traveling with 2 kids, one of which was a lap child, scared me to death. Honestly I figured I would survive. I just didn’t think I would hit Utah smiling.
Luckily Rick’s dad was able to drive me and the kids to the airport early in the morning. Thank you again. He took us to breakfast, sat with the kids while I checked in, and even helped get the kids dressed. We said our goodbyes to grandpa and headed through security. Our timing was great, the lines were non existent every where I went. Going through security was relatively easy, they did have to check the milk I had carried on for Brady. The whole process took only a few minutes and my first wave of relief hit.
The kids played in the window waiting for our plane to board. They charmed the TSA agents in the area and everyone asked about their tattoos. I printed some temporary tattoos that said if lost please call my phone number. I was asked all day long where I had found them and told what a great idea they were.

Luckily the plane was only half full and I was able to spread out and give Brady a seat to himself. Which was nice because this was the longer of the 2 flights. (yes I know my hair looks crazy)

We landed in Denver and I was even complimented in the jet way that the kids were so well behaved it left me a very proud mommy!
As we waited for our flight to Salt Lake City, I had the kids run and play to get the wiggles out. They announced that our flight was overbooked and that they would give a $600 voucher to anyone willing to delay their plans. I sat and debated the options for a little while. I mean with Katie and I both having separate tickets that meant $1200 in flights. By the time I decided it would be worth the extra hours in the airport they already had a few volunteers and we were ready to board the plane. I still wonder if I mad the right choice on not jumping on it sooner. I guess I was nervous that taking the voucher might mean I would be stuck in overnight with the kids. Which is an experience I didn’t want to relive. I think next time I will be braver and not sit and debate so long.
We boarded the full flight and Katie and Brady were the only kids. I though for sure there would be more headed to Utah but oh well. Katie bit her nail and needed a Band-Aid and Brady wasn’t about to go without so I put on eon his leg. It was hot on the plane so I stripped the kids socks and shoes off. Once I did this the kids calmed right down and were angelic the entire flight. In fact the gentleman stuck next to us slept most of the flight.

My mom and Grandma Engle were able to obtain gate passes and met us at the end of the jet bridge. Katie realized it was grandma and started running full blast with her backpack swinging wildly. Everyone was crying and we even got cheers from people waiting in the area.
I was EXHAUSTED! I can’t complain though, it went smoother than I could have asked.
