Snow is something Tennessee doesn't see very often so when the weather dumps 6-8 inches on us people around here are sure that they can't do anything.Rick went out to shovel our driveway only find that we didn't have a snow shovel. We left ours in Utah because everyone told us we wouldn't need one. So there we are with a push broom, a regular shovel and a rake trying to clear the driveway. We are doing this because we need somewhere to park the car that couldn't make it up the hill to our house and was still parked at the church parking lot at the bottom of the hill. Our next door neighbors felt bad for us and lent
us their shovel. They said that they hadn't used the shovel in years. (It was noted that it hasn't snowed this much in 15 years) Rick was nice enough to dig out some ruts for them when he finished with our drive, but they were content on being "snowed in."
I took Katie for a walk down the hill to fetch the car. We weren't the only ones to abandon our vehicle and trek up the hill Friday night during the snow storm. We were however the only people that had any idea of how to get your car brushed off, unstuck, and drive home in the snow. I spent more time digging out the other cars and Rick ended up pushing a van practically the whole way out of the parking lot. No wonder they don't go anywhere.
We relaxed at home and Rick even got some studying done. It was so nice to have a day off where no one expected anything of you because of the weather.
Being from Utah we expected everything to be back to normal by the next day. The roads were decent for the most part. (They really don't have snow removal out here)
Today is Sunday 2 days after the storm and guess what.......
it is a SNOW DAY!!! My very first one! I know snow days are suppose to be a public school term but anytime I have church cancelled due to snow I'm going to call it a SNOW DAY!
Without 3 hours of meetings we spent the morning at Rick's parent's house eating yummy waffles, do some sledding, and building our very own snow family.
What a great day! No wonder kids pray for snow.
