End of Summer

The leaves are starting to change colors and most days come with a cool breeze lately. I just wanted to share how we spent the last few days of summer.

The kids did some finger painting. Even Brady enjoyed smearing the paint on the paper. He however also wanted to eat the paper when he was done which made the activity challenging.

Most mornings while I prepared breakfast Brady could be seen doing the following.

This boy is going to kill himself someday by one of 2 ways, either falling off something high or eating something he shouldn’t and choking to death.

 

We had one last Pool Day

And yes even after a full summer I am still as white as our pool.

We also spent some time at the Hands On museum in Johnson City for a friends Birthday party.

Brady wasn’t too sure about his sister flying the plane.

However he was just fine with flying to the moon with his friend Scott as long as he didn’t have to wear his helmet.

Katie rocked out with her friends on stage.

All in all a pretty cool party! Except where we couldn’t find Katie in the museum for 15 mins. She had found a little alcove that had toys that wasn’t easy for us to find. It wouldn’t have been that bad except I had lost her at Wal-Mart just before this (code Adam and all) and was having a heart attack thinking I could have lost her again.

Lastly one morning we had the following.

Unfortunately the officer was in the driveway because the neighbor’s and our car had be broken into during the night. Rick forgot to close the garage door and so had the neighbor. Luckily for us nothing seemed to be missing. We had lots to steal too (portable DVD player, CD’s, GPS). We definitely counted our blessings that day.

Update on the kids

Ok so the purpose of this blog is to keep a written documentation of my children’s lives. I’m not doing so well at the moment. Let me tell you about what is going on with the kids.

Katie is my big girl. She helps me clean the house and takes good care of her brother. Brady was playing with some scissors and Katie knew that doing so wasn’t safe and so she took them away from Brady. Doing so sliced his finger. Blood got everywhere. We probably needed to go get stitches but we didn’t and now we have to do a tape/gauze routine everyday to make sure that Brady doesn’t pull of his bandage.

Katie is bored most days and tells me so. She is addicted to my Itouch. If we let her watch more than an hour she turns into monster Katie and the rest of our day is ruined. She is definitely one of those kids you need to send outside with strict instructions to run until she can’t anymore. She can count to 10 by herself and to 20 with assistance.She almost has her entire alphabet mastered. She can recognize the written letters, she can tell you what each of them says, we are working on words that start with each one and how to write the letters. So far she has the easy ones of O,L,I,H and of course K. She also can recognize her name in print. I can’t wait for her to start preschool after her birthday. She will enjoy every minute.

Katie is my water bug. She has 3 swimsuits and usually all of them are in the wash. She is still a small little thing. She currently weighs 26 lbs and is 36 in tall. She has little feet like her grandma and only wears a size 6 shoe. I just cut 3 inches off her hair and it still is past her shoulders and curly at the ends.

Brady, besides slicing his finger, is a happy child. He is scheduled for surgery on the 21st of Sept for his clogged tear duct. He will actually go under anesthesia which is a little scary for me but what can you do.

At his 9 1/2 month check up he weighed 17lbs 12oz. He was 29 inches tall. He has 6 teeth, with 2 more trying to come in. It varies each night if he is going to sleep all night or be up 4 times. He hardly ever eats baby food anymore. He prefers table foods and can eat the same portion as Katie.

He started walking on Aug 3rd at 9 1/2 months. The movie below is from the first day he walked.

One month later he is pretty balanced and getting faster every day. He is trying to keep up with Katie so he has to to learn to be quick. He does have the bumps and bruises to attest to his hard work.

They get along great together for the most part. Kate has the tendency to be pushy some days but Brady takes it in strides. Katie definitely lets me know if she thinks that Brady needs something.
